As we failed to report earlier, in October SUP and Last.fm project have signed a partnership agreement. The relevant press-release published by SUP says:
This new deal will see LiveJournal, Russia's largest social network and managed by SUP, launch a series of marketing initiatives to build the Last.fm audience in Russia. These new features will include online functionality as well as user events and promotions, these initiatives will be launched over the course of the next three months... In addition to these plans the deal will also see +SOL, SUP's online sales house, becoming the exclusive sales representative for Last.fm in Russia. The advertising partnership launched today with Nokia becoming the first local advertiser to partner with Last.fm in Russia.
The head of SUP's blogging service Anton Nossik posted a special entry in his LiveJournal, explaining what Last.fm is, what are its differences from LiveJournal, why everybody's music taste are important and how to use the new widgets. In particular he said:
In some sense Last.fm is the direct opposite of LiveJournal. In LiveJournal people express themselves through their own creativity, while at Last.fm they do it through somebody else's works. Through LiveJournal you publicly tell the world about yourself. Through Last.fm the world privately tells you something about you. It often turns out that the world knows more about you than you know about it or than you know about yourself.
